Suitable for a wide range of automotive uses, including functional safety applications, STMicroelectronics VNH9030AQ integrated full-bridge DC motor driver not only integrates advanced diagnostics, but also features dedicated pins for displaying real-time output status, which reduces the need for external circuits and lowers bill-of-materials costs.
With an on-resistance RDS(on) of 30mΩ per bridge arm, the VNH9030AQ is capable of efficiently handling low to medium power DC motor drive applications such as door control modules, washer pumps, power tailgates, power luggage compartments, and seat adjusters.
The on-chip integrated current detection circuit with no power dissipation monitors the current flowing through the chip and identifies each phase of the motor, improving the overall energy efficiency of the driver and saving external components. The driver is able to maintain very low standby power consumption over the entire operating temperature range, reducing the difficulty of applying the driver in area controller platforms.
The VNH9030AQ integrates high and low side MOSFET switching tubes as well as gate drivers, diagnostics, and transient over-voltage, under-voltage, short-circuit protection and cross-conduction prevention. The configuration flexibility of the MOSFETs, which can be connected in parallel or in series, makes them suitable for multi-motor systems or other specific needs.
The new products are part of a family of products utilizing STMicroelectronics M0-9 technology, which enables highly efficient monolithic integrated power stages and logic circuits. All products are available in an innovative 6mm x 6mm triple pad QFN package with enhanced thermal performance to optimize the thermal efficiency of the bottom of the driver. Additionally, the products share a common pinout to simplify board layout and software re-use.
