       Rohde & Schwarz has released a comprehensive set of coordination software options for its vector signal generators, signal and spectrum analyzers.the company has pioneered the full range of 5G NR Release 17 features in its signal generation and analysis test solutions. The software options of the R&S SMW200A vector signal generator and R&S FSW signal analyzer have been upgraded to meet the stringent requirements of this latest 5G specification. The R&S FSVA3000 signal and spectrum analyzer and the R&S SMM100A vector signal generator can also handle 5G NR Release 17.

      Some of the key features of this release include ultra-reliable low-latency communications for IIoT, IAB, and radio access network slicing for NR. In addition, 3GPP extended frequency support to 71GHz. This expansion requires adjustments to the physical layer, in particular the addition of two new subcarrier spacings (480kHz and 960kHz) and support for wider signal bandwidths up to 2GHz.

      The need for high-quality signal testing is reflected in a new enhanced dynamic front-end module for class-leading signal and spectrum analyzers. This makes the solution ideal for evaluating any high-end communications component or system, including 5G NR FR2 or IEEE 802.11ay/ad chipsets, amplifiers, user equipment and base stations.

    In addition, the new 67GHz frequency option of the R&S SMW200A vector signal generator provides frequencies up to 72GHz in overrange mode. All planned higher frequency 5G bands, 60GHz WiGig bands and inter-satellite links are supported. Key features of this generator include excellent modulation quality, flat frequency response, and four hardware-based levels of phase noise performance, also available for the new frequency options.
