Light and Cadence Design Systems today announced that Light has deployed the Cadence Tensilica Vision Q7 DSP in its Clarity Depth Perception Platform, The platform uses industry-standard cameras to provide ADAS with remote, high-resolution depth perception. DSP provides Light real-time data processing and high resolution output with low latency and high bandwidth transmission.

Light's solutions enable machines to see better than humans by using two or more cameras, novel calibration and unique signal processing, thus providing unprecedented depth quality in the camera's field of view. Integrating DSP into its solution enables depth measurement processing speeds up to 10 times faster than quad-core cpus, improving real-time accuracy and reliability. The highly configurable and scalable Vision Q7 DSP is connected by a series of optimized computer Vision libraries, optional accelerators, and toolchains to efficiently handle these workloads. Light implements its proprietary multi-view depth-sensing algorithm using custom instructions in the Tensilica Instruction Extension Language, providing an additional four-fold performance improvement by saving 3X area/power.

Dave Grannan, Light's CEO said:"Light's solution enables machines to see better than humans, and a key part of that is the rapid processing of information that enables machines to react to the world around them,"  "With Cadence Tensilica Vision Q7 The integration of the DSP gives us enhanced signal processing capabilities with low power consumption and low latency, which complements the platform technology and helps us provide accurate and reliable measurement depth for future ADAS systems. Additionally, when designing automotive-grade solutions , integrating ISO 26262 certified IP such as the Tensilica Vision Q7 DSP is critical.”

David Glasco, Cadence's Vice president of Research and development for Tensilica IP said:"Tensilica Vision Q7 DSP continues to be the de facto standard for Vision processors in most markets today, offering high performance and low power packages,"  "Light's innovation approach to depth perception is quite complex, enabling high-precision real-time processing by integrating the Vision Q7 DSP into Light's sharpness and depth perception platform. This demonstrates the Vision Q7 DSP's versatility and strengthens our footprint in the smart vehicle space."

Tensilica Vision Q7 DSP supports Cadence's Intelligent system design strategy for superior SoC design.
