In order to improve the level of road traffic safety, many countries are issuing relevant laws and regulations, requiring drivers to give way to emergency vehicles. As the number of autonomous vehicle increases, these regulations may cover the field of autonomous driving, requiring autonomous vehicles to identify and respond to emergency vehicles and meet safety requirements. This requires the use of both audible and visual warning signals in most cases. To this end, Infineon Technology announced that it would cooperate with Cerus to build a solution based on Infineon vehicle specification XENSIV MEMS microphone (IM67D130A) and Cerus emergency vehicle detection (EVD) software. This will enable the vehicle to actively detect approaching emergency vehicles, even when the emergency vehicle is in the blind zone of vision, it can also reliably detect.

Christophe Couvreur, Senior Vice President and General Manager of Core Product Department of Celenth, said: "With the rapid landing of autonomous vehicle, the emergency vehicle detection function will become the key to providing drivers with the information they need in emergencies. We cooperate with Infineon to provide an integrated emergency vehicle detection solution based on hardware and software for automobile enterprises, which will improve the level of road traffic safety worldwide."

Frank Findeis, senior vice president and general manager of the car perception and control business line of Infineon Technology, said: "We are committed to working with industry leaders to jointly promote the innovation of new generation products. Cerus is a global supplier of AI software solutions for automobiles and an excellent ecological partner. We combine Cerus emergency vehicle detection system with Infineon's high-performance MEMS Maxwind to provide automobile manufacturers with leading solutions to meet the demanding market demand."

Reliable detection, classification and sound localization. The emergency alarm detection system provides a complementary detection method for autonomous vehicle and enhances the vehicle's perception of the surrounding environment. The system combines the XENSIV MEMS microphone array ingeniously placed outside the car with the Selous EVD.

Package information

XENSIV MEMS microphone conforms to AEC-Q103-003 standard and has an ultra wide operating temperature range from - 40 ° C to+105 ° C, which can be applied to various harsh driving environments. When the sound pressure level (SPL) is 94 dB and the acoustic overload point (AOP) is up to 130 dBSPL, the total harmonic distortion (THD) of the microphone is less than 0.5%, which can capture undistorted audio signals in noisy environments. Therefore, even if the tone of the alarm is interfered by the background noise, it can also accurately classify the signal.
