SEMIKRON and ROHM launch new cooperation on silicon carbide power components

SEMIKRON and ROHM, a world-renowned semiconductor manufacturer, have been cooperating for more than ten years in the development of silicon carbide (SiC) power modules.

This time, ROHM's fourth-generation SiC MOSFET was officially used in SEMIKRON's automotive-grade power module "eMPack®", which opened a new journey of cooperation between the two parties. In addition, SEMIKRON announced that it has signed a 1 billion euro cooperation contract with a major German car manufacturer to supply this customer with this innovative power module "eMPack®" from 2025. In the future, ROHM and SEMIKRON Mikong will continue to work together to provide high-quality services to customers around the world.

eMPack power modules are designed to take full advantage of the properties of new semiconductor materials and are designed for mid to high power SiC inverters. Utilizing SEMIKRON's double-sided sintering technology and "Direct Die Compression (DPD)", automotive inverter designs can be designed to be compact, highly reliable, and scalable. In addition, SEMIKRON provides evaluation boards for eMPack equipped with ROHM gate driver ICs, which will help customers save time in evaluation and design. In addition, SEMIKRON plans to use ROHM's IGBT products in industrial power modules.
