Toshiba Electronics Europe LTD offers two optical couplers (TLP5705H and TLP5702H) in thin SO6L packages for small to medium capacity igBT/MOSFET insulated gate drivers. Rugged equipment is ideal for applications in industrial equipment, including inverters, AC servo drivers, photovoltaic inverters and UPS.

The TLP5705H is the company's first product to offer A ±5A peak output current rating in the SO6L package, while the TLP5702H has A ± 2.5a peak output current rating. When using these new optocouplers, systems such as small and medium capacity inverters and AC servo drivers that employ buffering circuits for current amplification can now drive IGBT/MOSFET directly from the optocouplers. This eliminates the need for any buffering circuits, while simplifying the design, reducing the number of parts, and allowing miniaturization.

The SO6L package has a footprint of just 10mm x 3.84mm and can be installed on traditional SDIP6-packaged PCBS, making it easy to upgrade Toshiba's existing optical couplers such as the TLP700H.

The SO6L package is only 2.3mm tall, which is thinner than the current 4.25mm SDIP6. This brings great flexibility for component placement, allowing it to be mounted on the back of the PCB or used where the physical limit of available height is placed. If larger pin form is required, TLP5702H(LF4) and TLP5705H(LF4) specify parts with the same electrical properties, packaged in SO6L(LF4) packages with wider pin distances.

The new optocoupler has a supply voltage (VCC) between 15VDC and 30VDC and a transmission delay of only 200ns. They can both operate at temperatures ranging from -40 ° C to +125 ° C, making them ideal for industrial applications and other harsh environments.
